ECOSISTER PROJECT

ALMACUBE SRL is an affiliated entity of the project Ecosystem For Sustainable Transition of Emilia Romagna (ECOSISTER) CUP B33D21019750004, approved under the Ministry of University and Research’s public notice of December 30, 2021 No. 3277-Ecosystems of Innovation-National Recovery and Resilience Plan, Mission 4 Education and Research-Component 2-From Research to Enterprise-Investment 1.5, funded by the European Union-Next Generation EU.

In order to maintain a leadership role in the international context and remain anchored to the vocations that characterize the Emilia-Romagna territory, the project aims to support the ecological transition of the regional economic and social system through a process that transversally involves all sectors, technologies and skills by combining digital transition and sustainability with people’s work and well-being and environmental protection in coherence with the objectives of the Jobs and Climate Pact, and integrating with regional, national and European programming.

A Hub composed of all the Universities and Research Centers involved together with ART-ER in synergy with the affiliated entities of the High Technology Network for technology transfer activities was formed to manage and implement the entire program of activities.

Specifically, research activities will cover materials for sustainability and ecological transition; clean energy production, storage and savings; green manufacturing for a sustainable economy; smart mobility, housing and energy solutions for a zero-carbon society; circular economy and blue economy; and ecological transition based on high performance computing and data technology.

The Innovation and Technology Transfer Program (TTIP) in which ALMACUBE is involved aims to tune the world of research and innovation to generate impact on the economic fabric and leave, at the end of the project, an even more effective, integrated and sustainable regional technology transfer ecosystem, in line with international best practices, also based on new actions and tools, tested over the three-year period and then made permanent at the end of the project.

ACTIVITIES

TTIP is divided into 5 major actions:

• Training: Training paths, guidance services and networking with businesses for students, doctoral students and researchers on issues of ecological transition and skills enhancement, including through programs aimed at strengthening the figure of the researcher as a driver of innovation.
• New business incubation: Support for the business idea generation phase aimed at university students through systematic and permanent outreach and scouting activities at university departments and research institutes. Selected ideas are developed through training, consulting and coaching paths in order to validate their feasibility.
• Acceleration of established companies: Activation of acceleration programs for spinoffs and deeptech startups in activities related to the green transition, with a strong propensity for internationalization, involving continuous interaction with companies and investors.
• Technology transfer: Initiation of science-industry relations between regional companies and public research institutions to respond to the technological needs of companies through the implementation of programs and collaborations on specific innovation needs.
• Public engagement: Enhancing the role of citizens and civil society organizations in co-designing and monitoring research priorities and projects to ensure responsible transformative and anticipatory innovation.
